The Ride’s Purpose

WHY WE ARE DOING THIS

Every year accidents happen and good men and women are injured while in the line of duty. In the utility industry, the margin of error is extremely thin, with catastrophic consequences most of the time.

In 2008, Ted Pennell, a founding partner of Trueline Power was burnt in a power line incident constructing the Olympic Village in Vancouver, BC. The events that followed were traumatic and difficult. As He faced the physical, mental, and emotional challenges each day he needed the support of those around him. Family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances had to adjust to the changes and challenges through Teds recovery process. Ted never forgot the support and strength that was given by all those around him.

The Power Ride was brought into concept by the partners of Trueline Power who recognized the importance of leading by example. Not only by creating a safe work culture and environment but also a commitment to supporting those who contribute day after day keeping the power on. Trueline Power wanted to give back and encourages others to give also to those who have been directly affected by workplace accidents in the utility industry and support them on their road to recovery.
